You should say:

What the cake was and who gave it to you
When and where you received it

How you felt about it

Well, I’ve had my fair share of desserts over the years, but there is one particular cake that truly stands out in my memory. It was a custom-made, three-tier chocolate truffle cake that my childhood friends gave to me.

I received this wonderful surprise last year during my graduation party, which was held at a local rooftop restaurant in my hometown. I had just completed my bachelor's degree, and my friends had organized a small get-together to celebrate my academic milestone.

What made this cake exceptionally special was the meticulous thought and effort put into its design. It wasn’t just a regular cake bought off the shelf. The top layer was decorated with a miniature, edible graduation cap made of dark chocolate, and the sides were beautifully frosted with blue and gold icing, which matched my university colors.

Furthermore, they had requested the baker to infuse a subtle hint of orange zest into the rich chocolate layers, making the flavor profile absolutely exquisite.

Using advanced lexical resource items correctly is vital for raising your score. Here is why the bolded phrases from the sample answer work so well:

1. "Fair share of"

Meaning: A lot of something; an expected amount.

This is an excellent idiomatic expression. Saying "I've had my fair share of desserts" sounds much more natural and advanced than "I have eaten many cakes."

2. "Academic milestone"

Meaning: A significant event or achievement in your educational journey.

A highly sophisticated collocation used to describe major life events like graduations.

3. "Meticulous thought"

Meaning: Showing great attention to detail; very careful precise thinking.

It proves to the examiner that you have precise control over your vocabulary choices.

4. "Exquisite"

Meaning: Extremely beautiful, delicate, or delicious.

A high-level synonym that replaces overused words like "nice" or "good."

5. "Overwhelmed with gratitude"

Meaning: Feeling an intense, deep sense of thankfulness.

This strong emotional collocation satisfies the complex lexical requirements needed to express feelings accurately.
