Well, environmental degradation is a pressing issue globally, and if I had the authority, I would love to introduce a law that strictly bans single-use plastics in all commercial establishments across my country. This would include items like plastic bags, straws, and disposable cutlery.

Regarding how this law would be enforced, the government would need to implement a two-phase strategy. Firstly, manufacturing companies would be given a six-month grace period to transition to eco-friendly alternatives, such as paper or bamboo. Subsequently, local authorities would conduct surprise inspections at supermarkets and restaurants.

Establishments caught violating the regulations would face hefty fines or, in severe cases, temporary closure. This law is paramount because our oceans and landfills are literally choking on plastic waste. Marine life is severely endangered, and these materials take hundreds of years to decompose, which continuously harms our soil quality.

Ultimately, I feel incredibly passionate about this proposal. While it might cause some minor inconvenience to consumers initially, I firmly believe that people would adapt quickly. It would significantly reduce our carbon footprint and ensure a much cleaner, greener environment for future generations.
