Question:

Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the work place. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for it's own same.

Discuss and give opinion.

Answer:

It has been an issue of debate whether university should provide knowledge regarding future jobs only, or they should teach all types of subjects and skills to students. This essay will first discuss the main role of university studies with all subjects, second, studies for knowledge and strategies for the workplace followed by reasoned conclusion.

On the one hand, there are many students who have specific job aim when they decide to enroll at university or college. As in medical, dentistry, accountancy, doctor, nurse and so on. They already had decided their career path from beginning. For example, there are rules and regulations in few countries that before choosing career courses the one must completer four years of higher education, in this matter there are many students who believe that it is total waste of time, and it would be better to focus it on to choose the field rather than wasting all those years.

On the other hand, many people believe that it is better to teach all subjects to learners so that everyone can understand their interest and strength because it is impossible for everyone to decide their career goals since beginning. For instance, many students get enrolling in engineering faculty but only 50% of them become engineer after completing the studies. So many people cannot decide at the starting point of their studies, it betters to teach them all kinds of subjects.

In conclusion, although all the subjective knowledge is important, colleges and universities should prepare graduates for better work placements and job place.
