Answer:

Using cars is becoming more common in recent years. Although I think it does have few obvious detrimental consequences, I believe that the car's advantages can outweigh its disadvantages.

On the one hand, ownership of cars has a significant impact on the environment. The first reason is that the increasing rate in travelling by car can lead to pollution, traffic jams and increase in road accidents. Secondly, our dependence on cars can decrease activities, such as walking and cycling. People may have likely to carry higher health risks such as obesity and heart attacks.

On the other hand, there are many reasons why people prefer cars. First of all, it provides freedom of movement to the people. The ease of transport that a car brings is as important / prominent as any other form of vehicles. For example, you can go from one destination to another and no time is wasted waiting for a bus or train. Therefore, distance and time are no longer barriers. Secondly, personal cars can provide comfort when traveling compared to public transport which are sometimes crowded and uncomfortable. For example, you can read books, listen to your favorite songs or play with children when you are in your car, but all seem impossible on public transport. Finally, families can go together. It is especially helpful when families have elderly, disabled, or sick members.

In conclusion, having a car can cause some obvious problems, but I believe that owning a car is the best option and the benefits from it can overcome its drawbacks.
