IELTS SPEAKING TEST
➣ The speaking test lasts for 11-15 minutes.
➣ It will be same for both the Academic and General training.
➣ Part 1:
In this part, the examiner will introduce himself/herself and will ask you about yourself and to confirm your passport or identity. The examiner will ask you few general questions related to your hobbies, hometown, family, studies, work and so on. It will take about 4-5 minutes. Be confident, relax and try to enjoy using the English language. If you do not understand the question while in the speaking test, you can ask for clarification if it is necessary.
➣ Part 2:
In this part, the examiner will give you a cue card task. This session will takes around 3-4 minutes. You will get one minute to prepare and make notes on a particular topic and then you will be expected to talk for 1-2 minutes on it. Try to talk as much as you can. Do not fear if the examiner stops you before finishing the 2 minutes while you are talking.
➣ Part 3:
Lastly, the examiner will ask you further questions on the same topic which are connected to the topic of Part 2 for 4-5 minutes. It is designed to give you an opportunity to discuss more issues, ideas and your opinion on it. Learn to develop your all answers, do not reply with yes or no only.
➣ IELTS Speaking Test format will be as per the table given below:
➣ You will be marked on the four criteria:
- Grammar
- Pronunciation
- Fluency and coherence
- Lexical resource (vocabulary)
➣ Don't go off the topic and answer the questions you asked for.
➣ Be natural, do not use prepared answers; The examiner is trained to find it.
➣ Improve your vocabulary.
➣ I recommend you to prepare well for this module and practice answering the questions on different topics.
➣ Speak confidently and avoid using fillers such as:
- Like
- You know
- Umm
- Ahh
- Ehh
- Well
